Memorial Tribute is an edited transcript of a memorial service given by R. B. Thieme, Jr., as Pastor of Berachah Church.
The death of a loved one is often a reminder of the shortness of time that you have on this earth. Life hangs by a very fine thread which can be snapped at any moment. By making the greatest decision of your life—choosing to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior—you can be prepared for eternity.
“Whosoever believeth in Christ shall never perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16b)
Anytime God removes a person from this life, the decision is based on His perfect wisdom and integrity. Those of us left behind can rejoice in the knowledge that the departed believer is in a state of perfect happiness with the Lord. With comfort and tranquillity from the Word of God in our souls, we are able to stand at the graveside and take advantage of our time to mourn, to remember the missing friend or loved one and honor him with auld lang syne. With a lump in our throat we may say, “Farewell,” but we know that we will be reunited forever in eternity.
